Secondary SATA Hdd for Acer Aspire 7738g

Friday, July 10th, 2009

As I described in my post here I want to install secondary HDD to my acer 7738g but Acer made me as buyer feel like total idiot. To install this hard drive I have to change several parts from my laptop thought it support two hard drives. I have to get special acer sata connector, new notebook secondary hdd cover and hdd bay. They might say that it is done to prevent damage to laptop that non-professional can cause installing hdd himself. Come on, Acer – even totally retarded can install it and secondary hdd is specially designed by you to be in separate bay!!! But ok – I have to order these parts. My local Acer dealer can get any parts from Acer in a week. Week passed and I don’t have them! Dealer said that Acer just do not provide these parts. So I bought hdd for one price – even now when I am waiting it’s cost is already lower that I’va paid for it! Moreover I can’t get these parts! Acer sells laptops, advertise them as laptops with two hdds but in reality you cannot have two because acer does not provide required parts. Come on, Acer – you at the worldwide market. If you fucks customer – he’ll never come back. Next time I’m going to buy Sony or Asus. I offer you do the same :)

Seconday HDD for Acer 7738g

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

So as my laptop supports two internal hard drives I bought second one – sata 5400rpm and 500gb. I must say Acer does not give any parameters even in specification coming with notebook. But ok – hdd is finally bought. I opened secondary hdd cover and look:
DSC00023

There must be a special connector. You cannot buy this connector on the ebay and even cannot in local computer shop. You must go to you local acer dealer. And you know what? My local dealer does not have it because model is new. I should have bought asus…

Updated: As Letty from findtheanswers.com commented – I need to het connector, secondary hdd cover + secondary hdd bay. That is possible only at local acer dealer.

Acer 7738g Laptop

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

So as my asus c90s was dead and warranty said that will not repair it I had to choose something in very short time. And bought this toy – acer 7738g. My demands were very simple – Core 2 duo of course at least t6400, Geforce GT 130m as a must, 4Gb preferably ddr3, high resolution – width starting with 1400px – screen size does not matter as I will not be bringing this machine with me very often – I have small HP mini 2133. Must be Vista.

What is good with this laptop is that is supports two hard drives. And you can put one more hdd not instead of dvd-writter but in addition to it :) So in standart I have 320Gb and probably will buy 500gb 7200rpm secondary hard drive. Btw standart one is 320gb and is 5400rpm.  Comparing to c90s asus this one has very high quality display. Also I should mention very good speaker quality. It says it has small subwoofer – I don’t know if it is true but sound is good.

First things I tried – installed several games that had problems on c90s – Overlord 2 and Vin Diesel Wheelman – they work perfectly. Though the processor is weaker than on my previous c90s – I had 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo Extreme desktop processor, but in overall performance this machine is much much better. I am planning to try videi editing in some time – I will leave some comments :)
