If you’re just starting out a new website or a blog, you need to promote it to gain some traffic and frequent readers. There are a lot of ways to do this. Your imagination is the limit. One way to promote your site or blog is to add it to a web directory.

A good directory to submit to is LinKernel. At the first glance, I felt as if I stumbled upon an advertising portal than a directory. While browsing through the site I figured that it offers visitors the option to refer listed sites to their friend from the directory itself. Visitors can also save a listing on their computer for future reference under “My listing”. The FAQ page reads that all Chicago based businesses are listed for free…I never came across a directory that offers free listings to the city from where it is operated! It has a current pagerank of 2 however with the new articles being added to the directory, that is bound to increase in the near future.

If you’re still clueless about what I am trying to say you should have a look at this directory and spend some time on it. So many directories are announced on webmasters’ forums every day but LinKernel seems to stand out.
Halloween is around the corner. LinKernel has started the Halloween celebration with an informative article on the celebration itself.

One thing I really like about it is the strict policy to ensure that only quality sites are listed. You’d not find a shady looking Web site in this directory. If you want for your site to hang out around good neighborhoods, it deserves a listing in this directory

I came across this directory long time ago. The homepage looks very different now that it used to be. Awesome looking directory!
